- The new agreement for 2012-2013 covers 120,000 working hours and employs about 30 people. We are very pleased and proud to have received renewed confidence from Skanska-Vinci, says CEO Per Ekelund.
Skanska-Vinci is building the tunnel through the Hallandsås on behalf of the Swedish Trafikverket. Scanunit has worked for Skanska-Vinci since the drilling restarted in 2005.
- We are responsible for keeping the drill going, including maintenance, supervision, welding and repairs, says Per.
Drills around the clock
The drill is a giant of 250 meters and 3 200 tonnes. It both builds and seals the tunnel and is specially equipped for the complex geological conditions in the Hallandsås. The drill is in operation 24/7.
The tunnel through the Hallandsås is part of the expansion of the west coast railway line. According to the timetable the tunnel will open for rail traffic in 2015.
