Scanunit

Broströms shipping company started Scanunit in the 1960s. In 1988 the separate limited company Scanunit AB was founded in Gothenburg. The company had five owners, including current Senior advisor Per Ekelund, a former employee at Broströms. The newly established Scanunit’s mission was to offer help in solving problems for the shipping business.

In 1995 Per Ekelund took over the majority and the headquarters was moved to Helsingborg. Today Per Ekelund owns 33 percent of Scanunit AB, Martin Nilsson 3 percent and the remaining 64 percent is owned by the Ahlmark Lines AB (read more at www.ahlmarks.se).

Scanunit has had a steady growth since it started in 1988. The first year the company had a turnover of 1.8 million SEK, twenty years later turnover was 96 million SEK. In 2014 the turnover exceeded 135 million SEK. At the start Scanunit had one employee and hired four, today we are 31 colleagues plus 130 temporary employees.

Over the years business has expanded, and we are now Scandinavia’s leading provider of complete solutions in lifting and maintenance for industry and shipping. Our customers don’t have to have multiple suppliers – Scanunit offers the whole package. This provides, inter alia, lower environmental impact and higher cost efficiency.

Scanunit has well-functioning quality and environmental management systems that are approved according to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004. Inspectors from Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance are regularly reviewing Scanunit’s operations in Helsingborg and Gothenburg to ensure that we continue to live up to the ISO certifications.

Our quality policy:
We work to ensure that our customers get the right product or service at the right time, with the right quality and at the agreed price and, through our coordination of the service package, to reduce environmental impact. We will always be honest with our customers when doing business, no “quick fix” that could compromise our quality or long-term relationships. It is not to get this job that is most important to us; it is to get the next one. We always put safety first.

At Scanunit, we strive to use as environment-friendly methods as possible, and to be well up to the market’s and the authorities’ requirements for safe and environmentally friendly materials. In our daily work we always strive to economize with the resources needed to run the company’s activities.

We commit ourselves to comply with laws, regulations and other requirements. We continuously improve our business by developing and improving our management system. And we systematically review our work environment to further improve it.
